Description |
(KNF) Kalb Nadler Family Collection was donated by Ellie Nadler in 2019. It contains material collected by Ellie and Harry Nadler and Ellie's parents, Gerri and Charles Kalb, which document their work in Women's and Men's B'nai B'rith in San Diego from the 1960's to the 2000's. The Kalbs and Nadlers were founders and leaders of many projects of the San Diego B'nai B'rith, from individual chapters to regional leadership. Much of the collection is about B'nai B'rith Women's good deeds in San Diego, such as helping expectant mothers and young families, working with patients at the VA and Balboa Naval Hospitals; supplying shelters and food banks; teaching students tolerance and democracy and fighting for the freedom of Jews from tyranny in the Soviet Union. There is material on San Diego's Anti-Defamation League, started in the late 1960's and UJF's Community Relations Committee. There are also audio and video tapes and conference memorabilia. The collection is 3 large boxes, 2 smaller boxes, plus flat items Box 1 contains: biographical material on the Kalbs and Nadlers, awards and tributes, the founding of the B'nai Br'ith Women's Shalom Chapter in 1967 and organizational records until the 2000's. There are also organizational records of several other chapters. |
